Back in 2007, Austrian writer and director Stefan Ruzowitzky enjoyed true success when his film, The Counterfeiters , took home the Best Foreign Language Oscar. The director has now lined up his next project, making a change from a Holocaust centered story to a genre flick as Heat Vision reports he will direct the English language, period horror film The Last Voyage of the Demeter , an Alien -like story that focuses on the ship which transported Dracula from Transylvania to London.

You read that right folks. Variety reports that producer Charles Roven ( Batman Begins , The Dark Knight ) and his Atlas Entertainment production banner are working with Warner Bros to develop a feature length film adaptation of the classic castaway television series Gilligan’s Island . So what was only supposed to be a three-hour tour, looks to be coming in at around a two hour movie from writer Brad Copeland ( Yogi Bear , Wild Hogs ), but no director is attached yet. Roven will produce along with Richard Suckle who is no stranger to adapting old television series as he also produced both live-action/CG-hybrid Scooby-Doo films

Just over a week ago, we broke the news that George Lucas , who was displeased with director Anthony Hemingway’s work, would be directing some heavy reshoots for the upcoming Lucasfilm production of Red Tails , the story of the Tuskegee Airmen . Shortly after the story gained steam, a representative from Lucasfilm denied our report as “completely inaccurate.” But now, in the new print edition of Entertainment Weekly ( scan of the article here ) comes confirmation that Lucas is indeed directing reshoots on the film, but supposedly only because Hemingway is busy working on the HBO series “Treme” for David Simon instead. However, let’s think about this for a second
